Sold - 1966 Ford Ranchero - 289 Automatic

I have the V8 emblems for front fenders and Steers Heads for the roof, just never got around to putting them on.  Beauty rings are after market generic but look good. I had a new windshield installed a couple of years ago.
I bought this a little over 5 years ago and have enjoyed 6 Summers of driving, cruising and showing, but I have found a new love now and there is no more room, so it has to go.

This is a nice driver not a prize winning show truck, it has its flaws, I will try to point out the big ones but there are chips, scratches and runs and such from a 6+ year old home restoration.

It is the standard red many Rancheros were painted in the 60s, the pictures make it look more Poppy Red and that is not the color.

I did not restore the car, so I can only tell you what the previous owner told me and what I have done since I bought it.

The truck is located in the country 30 miles East of Rochester New York, near Williamson.

Sold

Tires are radials that I put on and have about 4000 miles on them.

I had the rear bumper replated and is nice.

It has dual exhaust and just a little attitude to the mufflers.

I added the seat belts, they are after market not Ford. The previous owner welded in replacement floors when he redid the truck.  Interior is nice and I assume it was a kit that he put in.

I made the rubber mat to protect the paint and to keep chairs and coolers from sliding around.

Original floor is solid.

289 engine runs strong, 2 brl carb.  The previous owner reported that the engine and transmission were rebuilt.

He reset the speedometer to zero at that point and it now shows about 6500 miles. New battery last summer.
The Bad Parts

Above bad spot in previous owners body work behind passenger front wheel.

Has the slow speed front suspension squeaks from the so called Ford permanently lubed bushings, seems like most mid 60s Fords had this.  I have a pair of the special right angle grease fittings to convert them to greaseable.

Front bumper is presentable but does have some dings and scratches.

A few dents in the aluminum trim on taillight on drivers side, passenger side is worse.  I had planned to replace these when I could find them, or change to 67 style which are interchangeable and have bigger light area.

There are a couple of cracks in the padded dash by the speaker that the previous owner tried to fix but they re-cracked.  There is a part missing under the horn ring so I added a horn button under the steering column till I could find one.

The transmission pan leaks, and the transmission could use some adjusting but it was not bad enough to bother me.

The stock radio (AM) stopped working shortly after I bought the truck.
Runs good, longest trip I took in it was about 600 miles round trip and it went smoothly, about half was on interstates.  It has never left me stranded.

Also includes:
  • An indoor style form fitting car cover
  • 5 extra dog dish hub caps (the best 4 are on it)
  • Some misc trim if you want to try and collect the pieces to make it a more delux version.

I hope by being honest on the problems I don't scare you off, but I don't want you to be disappointed if you come and look.

Licensed and can be test driven till first snow.
